Optometry Update: Contact Lenses Now Available at Britton!
Variety Care's Optometry Department will pilot a new contact lens program at the Britton Health Center in May 2021. This is the first time that contact lenses will be offered at Variety Care.
"We are excited to expand optometry services for the patients at Variety Care," Dr. Murnan said. "If the demand grows and we find the space for storing contacts at other locations, it's definitely something we could consider adding at our other optometric clinics later."
Dr. Murnan said that the pilot program was started to best serve vision patients.
"One of the things I love most about Variety Care is that we are always striving to meet the growing needs of our patients," she said.
"When I started working at our Britton location, it became obvious that more and more patients were requesting contact lenses. I'm really excited that we can now offer these services right here as a more convenient and affordable option for our patients."
Britton will offer soft contact lenses, including spherical, toric (for astigmatism), and multifocal (i.e., bifocal) contacts. There will be daily and monthly contacts. Some of the brands include Biofinity, Proclear, Air Optix and Dailies AquaComfort.
"Contact lenses have come a long way in design and materials over the years, offering vision correction for a wider range of prescriptions while also enhancing comfort and safety to the eyes," Dr. Murnan said. "Contacts are an excellent option for those wanting to maintain a more natural appearance without glasses or to have the ability to play sports and other recreational activities where glasses can become inconvenient."
Prices will be set at affordable rates for patients.
