Edmond-based Dr. Peter Stanbro Joins Variety Care Network; Increased Access to Integrated Health Care in Oklahoma
Oklahoma City –Dr. Peter Stanbro, an Edmond psychiatric provider, has joined the Variety Care network beginning April 1, 2025. As the Chief Behavioral Health Officer, Variety Care, and the Chief Medical Officer, NorthCare, Dr. Stanbro will be responsible for all psychiatry functions across the Variety Care network.
“I’m thrilled to join the multi-disciplinary team of providers and staff at Variety Care,” said Dr. Stanbro. “We acknowledge integration is the future of health care, and by joining Variety Care, we can manage higher acuity within a collaborative model and current Stanbro Healthcare Group patients will have access to more efficient referral processes across the health care spectrum.”
Since 2011, through his psychiatric practice Stanbro Healthcare Group, Dr. Stanbro has focused on diagnosing and treating children, adolescents and adults with Pervasive Developmental Disorders; Autism; ASD; Attention Deficit Disorder; Mood and Anxiety Disorders; Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder; and Reactive Attachment Disorder, among others.
Dr. Stanbro and his team will continue providing services to current Stanbro Healthcare Group patients from the Edmond location, and through telehealth.
“Variety Care’s mission of providing quality and affordable health care for all is made stronger through the integration of primary care and behavioral health,” said Lou Carmichael, president and CEO of Variety Care. “Last year’s alignment with NorthCare laid the foundation of this work, and we’re excited to announce another building block toward stronger integration for Oklahomans who need behavioral health services and primary care across the state.”
“The level of expertise Dr. Stanbro brings to specific acuities many children, women and men are faced with will strengthen health outcomes for patients of the Variety Care network and the communities we serve,” Carmichael added.
With the addition of Dr. Stanbro, Variety Care’s leadership roles will expand to drive new operational efficiencies and clinical innovations across the expanded Variety Care network. Lou Carmichael remains president and CEO of the Variety Care network and Sally Kerr, the executive director of NorthCare, has been named the Vice President of Mental Health Services for the Variety Care network. Additionally, Dr. Jason Graham will continue in his role as Chief Medical Officer of all Variety Care network clinical operations outside of behavioral health.
The integration of primary care and behavioral health is a growing trend across the U.S. as communities and health care organizations grapple with the growing impacts of chronic diseases and negative health outcomes. “The status quo is keeping Oklahoma at the bottom of all health rankings,” said Jason Pledger, board chair of Variety Care and chief experience officer for American Fidelity. “States that embrace multi-disciplinary health care teams are leading health rankings and outcomes, which positions them to attract stronger economies through a healthy, trained workforce, along with positive health outcomes from birth through adulthood. Dr. Stanbro’s addition to the Variety Care network positions patients on the path toward more positive health outcomes.”
